Girls Dont Cry

Sports has always proved to be an important socio-cultural learning experience for boys and men around the world. But, can we say the same of its treatment of young girls and women?

My project is an examination of gender bias experienced by Indian sportswomen, particularly in Haryana; a state infamous for its eschewed sex-ratio, practices of bride buying and widespread violence against women.

It traces the lives of young kabaddi players, their struggles and eventual transformation. The project highlights the positive impact of sports and the affirmative changes it could bring for women in the developing world.
